2D Needlefelt Animal Portraits
I live in North Lancashire just a stones throw away from the stunning Lake District. I started out with needlefelting 18 months ago initially making 3D models, after completing an online course learning how to create 2D needlefelt portraits this is where my passion now lies. I decided to launch my business in July 2020 and haven’t looked back since.
Needlefelting is the art of painting with wool fibres, using a barbed needle to penetrate the wool fibres which in turn matts the thin layers together. This is created on a background of either linen or 100% wool Felt. The options are to have the portrait created as a cushion or framed in a wooden hoop or a traditional frame. The likeness to the photo supplied by the customer is achieved by using many layers and shades of wool fibres to achieve a realistic impression of the subject.
The joy is in creating a completely unique and one off portrait that will be a forever keepsake of your beloved animal.
I’m happy to chat about and consider any type of animal portrait commission requests.
