The collection is named ‘First Snowfall’, after the first snowfall of the winter season. I always feel a mixture of excitement, anticipation and relief once the snow starts falling, along with a tiny bit of anxiety about whether I’ve prepared enough beforehand! I’ve named the individual pieces in the First Snowfall after the emotions I feel and experiences I have when ski training, such as ‘Fresh Snowfall’, ‘Race You’ and ‘Hazy Days’. I believe we can all relate to these pieces, especially as they’re directly inspired by the epic French ski resorts of Tignes, Courchevel and Val d’Isere. ??All paintings are oil paintings and are created with high quality, professional materials. I prefer to work in oil paints because they’re both considered more of a classic and traditional medium, and are also superb for blending colours. I love the way I can build up layers using my palette knife, and also the saturation of colour oil paint holds.
