The landscape was painted in spring in Chernihiv. Often times I am attracted to places that are not interesting to ordinary people. This landscape interested me with its multilevel and organic blend of parts. The old confectionery factory, with pipes and walls, is surrounded by small residential buildings. And in the foreground are mountains of snow. The weather that day was unpleasant. It started to rain every now and then. The wind was blowing. It was hard work. I’m not very happy with what I did. The tonal solution of the landscape could be more confident and accurate. And yet such works are dear to me. And as a necessary exercise in painting. And as an opportunity to capture such old and habitable places hidden deep in the bowels of the city, familiar to me since childhood.
