Description
This is a lino cut based on a design of roses and alliums. I made it when the Complicata rose in my garden was blooming in June. The alliums are tall and architectural making a contrast to the languid beauty of the roses. There is also a bee and a caterpillar hidden in the design, It is square in shape and quite a large print (41 cm x 41 cm). It is a two block lino print using the multi-block method with three blocks of the same size printed on top of each other. It is printed on to pale blue watercolour paper. I started work on it as a cushion design but then I started drawing on the block and it all got too complicated….
