About the artist
Forests are my favorite type of landscapes to paint, always so peaceful and full of color and life. This piece was inspired by the woods behind my grandmother’s house we stayed at often in my childhood. Though there’s no spot that actually looks exactly like this, this painting captures the feel I had as a kid. Done in oil, I used mainly a palette knife and a very expressive style to layer the colors.
