An optical light box displaying illusionary patterns of complex waveforms that appear to shift and change with angle of view. The work employ the creative use of moiré effect optical interference patterning using metal mesh and illumination that tricks the eye into perceiving space and movement.

Experimental, hand formed metal sculptures combining heat, light and colour. The works exploit the reactive nature of copper to create distinct surface patinas from heat, combined with hyper-iridescent optical coatings.

Maker Details

Merging art, science and technology, Jessica Lloyd-Jones’ work explores concepts of energy, matter and natural phenomena through the experimental use of materials and light. Her work includes installations, projection and sculpture created from a variety of materials and processes, drawing inspiration from scientific subject matter and the natural world. She often employs elements of illumination, colour and optics to evoke active energy and sensory experience. Lloyd-Jones collaborates with specialists in varying fields of science research as well as architects and design teams. Her large scale public art works reinterpret sites through imaginative and engaging artistic approaches. She can be commissioned to make bespoke work for public or private spaces.
