My name is Imogen Phillips and I’ve just finished my Fine Art degree from Glyndwr University in North Wales. I am based near Southampton and have entered paintings in local exhibitions with some success.

A  few years ago I was given a present of a photo session at ‘Liberty’s Owl & Reptile Centre’ in the New Forest. I later painted some of the owls from these photographs. The Barn Owl painting took well over a week to complete as I wanted to do justice to the amazing softness of its feathers. This painting went on to win the ‘Mayor’s Choice’ prize at the Warsash Art Group’s Annual Exhibition and was also chosen as the ‘People’s Choice’. Later that year it became my first commercial sale at the ‘Southern Nature Art Exhibition’

The other owls are from the same photo session although these didn’t take quite so long to complete. I like using acrylic paint on art paper and this is what I used for all of these paintings.

Commissions are welcomed and would normally be from a photograph. The size, materials and whether it is to be framed would be negotiated at the same time as the timescale and price.
