My third Yachtlife painting but the first in a larger version which are the type of paintings that I love to produce. It was completed in July 2021 following the relocation of studio to Preston marina. My work is far more than the seascape image that you can see in the painting. I live quite close to the coast and I spend most weekends at my beach flat in Lytham St Annes where I can get out and walk along the sea coast. I spend a great deal of time looking out at the sea, the line of the horizon and the sky beyond and for me it is a meditative experience. The lone yacht that you see anchored out at sea gracefully floating in tranquillity is a metaphor for myself and a desire to have my own space to think and feel free but of course, it could be you (the reader) or anyone. As a guy and something of a loner, the yacht represents me finding a place where I can be alone to reflect on life, explore my creative passions, rationalise what seems to be sometimes irrational thoughts, review lifeƒ??s woes, eliminate stresses and generally trivial matters which occupy the mind. I can unwind here and resolve many pressing issues in a calm environment without distraction. As I get older, I find the need to have my own space to think, more and more of a priority. With some of my works, youƒ??ll notice that colourful shapes that occupy a painting? These represent the range of thoughts that we allow our burdened minds to carry and they could be anything from health, money, love, work or the loss of someone close. Each thought is carried and reflected by the sea and the sky. At some point, I know reality hits and I realise that I have to withdraw that anchor from the sea and sail back into the harbour that is my own world but as I do so, I feel a little more refreshed as a result of those important moments set aside from this manic world. Of course, I donƒ??t have to be on my yacht and out to sea to experience this feeling, as I can merely look at the painting and be taken mentally to that place. Rod extra notes – – yacht varnish is applied to surface for high gloss and robustness – floating frame supplied that can be easily detached and painted to match wall colour.
